Pele is a soccer legend who has been credited with transforming the sport of soccer into the global phenomenon it is today. Born Edson Arantes do Nascimento in Tres Coracoes, Brazil, on October 23, 1940, Pele began playing soccer as a child. He was spotted by a local talent scout at the age of 11 and signed to the Santos Football Club. In 1956, at the age of 15, he made his debut for the club, scoring a hat trick in his first professional game.

Pele immediately became a sensation and earned himself a place on the Brazilian national team. He soon established himself as one of the greatest players of all time, scoring a total of 1,281 goals during his career. He was renowned for his dribbling skills and ability to score from anywhere on the field. He helped Brazil win the 1958, 1962 and 1970 World Cups, and was the top scorer in the latter two tournaments. Pele was also the first player to win three World Cup titles and was the youngest player ever to do so. He was named FIFA Player of the Century in 2000 and is considered one of the greatest sportsmen of all time. After retiring from professional soccer in 1977, Pele became a global ambassador for the sport, promoting it through a variety of campaigns and initiatives. Peles legacy will live on forever.
