Eva Peron, born on May 7th, 1919 in Los Toldos, Argentina, was a powerful political figure who is still remembered today as an icon of Argentinian history. She is best known for her time as the First Lady of Argentina, during which she successfully advocated for womens rights and the welfare of the working class.

Eva Peron, the youngest of five children, was the daughter of a poor rural family. Her father, Juan Duarte, was a carpenter and her mother, Juana Ibarguren, was a domestic worker. After her father left the family when she was 8, Eva had to help her mother support her siblings. She was determined to break out of the cycle of poverty, and at the age of 15 she moved to Buenos Aires in search of a better life. Eva Peron quickly found her place in the city, working as a radio actress and model. It was here where she met her husband, Juan Peron, a future president of Argentina. He was immediately taken with her grace, intelligence and beauty, and they married in 1945. In 1946, Juan Peron was elected president and Eva was appointed First Lady.
