Anna Kendrick was born in Portland, Maine, to Janice (Cooke), an accountant, and William Kendrick, a teacher. She has an older brother,
Michael Cooke Kendrick, who has also acted. She is of English, Irish, and Scottish descent.
For her role as "Dinah" in "High Society" on Broadway, Anna Kendrick was nominated for a Tony Award (second youngest ever), a Drama Desk Award, and a Fany Award (best actress featured in a musical). Her spectacular performance landed her the Drama League and Theatre World Award.
She was a lead performer with Cabaret's Kit Kat Club at "Carnegie Hall Live" in Great Performances: My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies (1999) (1999) (TV). She also had the privilege of working with director Scott Ellis and choreographer Susan Stroman at the New York City Opera House with Jeremy Irons amongst many more celebrity status actors, playing the role of "Fredrika" in "A Little Night Music".

Following the success of helming “ Pitch Perfect 2 ,” Elizabeth Banks is set to return as the director of the next installment in the Universal and Circle of Confusion musical-comedy, sources tell Variety.
Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson have already closed deals to return, with Kay Cannon on board to pen the script. The studio recently dated the film to bow on Aug. 4, 2017, but at the time Banks was weighing other projects to direct and hadn’t committed to return.
The multi-hyphenate is currently attached to helm Uni’s “ Red Queen” adaptation and Sony’s “Charlie’s Angels” reboot, but both films are still in development.
The 2012 original grossed $113 million worldwide, while “ Pitch Perfect 2 ″ has more than doubled that, grossing $286 million worldwide to date on a $29 million budget.

Taylor Rayburn, who is suffering with a rare form of kidney cancer, was spotted in the audience by the singer's mother Andrea and given quite the VIP experience during Swift's Atlanta concert.
Andrea Swift, who is also suffering from cancer, plucked the six-year-old out of the crowd to sit with her during a song before arranging a backstage meet and greet with the songstress herself.
Little Taylor was pictured getting a hug from Swift, 25, which the girl's mother posted on her Facebook page Project Team Taylor writing: 'Thanks Ms. Andrea, dreams really do come true!!!!'
Allison Rayburn also explained that she had surprised her daughter with tickets to the show after she spent her birthday receiving treatment in hospital.
'Our seats happened to be close to where Taylor Swift's entourage was. Taylor Swift's mom noticed Taylor and let Taylor sit next to her for a song and at the end of the concert took us backstage to meet Taylor Swift!!!!' she excitedly explained.
